Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism and AI Policy
1. Plagiarism Policy
Medical: Journal of Health and Medicine maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding plagiarism. We ensure that every manuscript published reflects original work and proper attribution of ideas.
-
Screening Tool: All submitted manuscripts are screened for originality using Turnitin or PlagiarismCheckerX before the peer-review process begins.
-
Similarity Threshold: The maximum allowed similarity index is 20%.
-
Action for High Similarity: * If a manuscript has a similarity index between 21% and 40%, it will be sent back to the author for revision and mandatory paraphrasing.
-
If the similarity index exceeds 40%, or if evidence of "copy-paste" without citation is found, the manuscript may be rejected immediately.
-
-
Self-Plagiarism: Authors must also avoid "text recycling" or self-plagiarism (reusing significant portions of their own previously published work without proper citation).
2. Generative AI Policy
In alignment with the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and DOAJ guidelines, our policy regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in scientific writing is as follows:
-
Authorship: AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Jasper, etc.) cannot be listed as an author or co-author. AI does not meet the requirements for authorship as it cannot take responsibility for the submitted work or manage conflicts of interest.
-
Disclosure Requirement: Authors who use AI-assisted technologies for writing, data analysis, or image generation must declare this in a dedicated "Declaration of AI Use" section within the manuscript or the cover letter.
-
Responsibility: The authors are fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the content produced by AI. This includes ensuring that the AI has not generated "hallucinations" (fake data) or plagiarized existing sources.
-
Exclusion: The use of basic tools for checking grammar, spelling, or references (e.g., Grammarly, Mendeley) does not require a formal declaration.
3. Integrity Standards
If a manuscript is found to have breached these policies after publication, the journal reserves the right to issue a correction or a formal retraction in accordance with COPE guidelines.
