Equality: Journal of Law and Justice is committed to maintaining academic integrity and upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. Therefore, the journal strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism in submitted manuscripts.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the act of using ideas, data, words, or work of others without proper acknowledgment and presenting them as one’s own.
Forms of plagiarism include, but are not limited to:
- Direct copying without proper citation
- Paraphrasing without acknowledging the source
- Using data, tables, figures, or research results without permission or citation
- Self-plagiarism (reusing one’s own work without proper citation)
- Duplicate or redundant publication
2. Originality Policy
- All manuscripts must be original works and have not been previously published
- Manuscripts must not be under consideration by another journal
- Authors must properly cite all sources used
- Any use of others’ work must be clearly acknowledged
Plagiarism in any form constitutes a serious violation of publication ethics and is not acceptable.
3. Plagiarism Screening
- All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening prior to peer review
- The journal uses plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or PlagiarismCheckerX
- The maximum acceptable similarity index is 20% (excluding references, properly quoted text, and common phrases)
- Screening is conducted by the editorial team during the initial review stage
4. Actions Against Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected, the journal will take the following actions:
a. Minor plagiarism:
- Authors will be asked to revise the manuscript
- Proper citation and corrections are required
b. Moderate to severe plagiarism:
- The manuscript will be rejected
- Authors may be prohibited from submitting for a certain period
c. Plagiarism after publication:
- The article may be retracted
- The journal may issue a correction or official statement
This policy follows international publication ethics guidelines such as Committee on Publication Ethics.
5. Author Responsibilities
- Authors are fully responsible for the originality of their work
- Authors must ensure all references are properly cited
- Authors must avoid duplicate or redundant publication
6. Plagiarism Prevention
To prevent plagiarism, the journal applies:
- Automated plagiarism detection tools
- Editorial evaluation
- Independent peer review
