AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Medical JKK

1. General Requirements

Medical JKK is a scholarly journal that publishes scientific articles in medicine, health sciences, and related fields within the journal's scope. The journal is committed to promoting academic integrity, scientific quality, research transparency, and ethical publishing practices.

Authors submitting manuscripts to Medical JKK must comply with the journal's author guidelines, publication ethics policies, and submission procedures.

The general requirements for manuscript submission are as follows:

1. Manuscripts must represent original scholarly work, demonstrate a meaningful scientific contribution, and fall within the scope of Medical JKK.

2. Manuscripts must not be under consideration for publication by another journal at the same time.

3. Manuscripts must not contain plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, misleading manipulation of research findings, or other forms of academic misconduct.

4. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission to Medical JKK.

5. Authors must disclose research funding, conflicts of interest, ethical approval, and other relevant information.

6. Authors must ensure that citations, references, tables, figures, and supplementary materials are accurate and properly prepared.

7. Manuscripts must follow the journal's prescribed formatting requirements.

8. Authors must respond to editorial and reviewer comments professionally throughout the review process.

Submission does not guarantee acceptance for publication. All manuscripts are subject to an initial editorial assessment and, if they meet the journal's requirements, may proceed to peer review.

2. Types of Articles

Medical JKK may consider the following types of articles, provided they fall within the journal's scope and editorial policies:

2.1. Original Research Article

An article presenting original research findings using clearly described methods, appropriate analysis, and a meaningful contribution to medicine or health sciences.

2.2. Review Article

An article that examines and critically evaluates existing scientific literature. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses must clearly describe their literature search, selection, appraisal, and synthesis methods.

2.3. Case Report

An article describing a clinical case with educational value or scientific relevance. Authors must comply with applicable ethical requirements and obtain appropriate patient consent for publication when required.

2.4. Short Communication

A concise article presenting important research findings or scientific information in a focused format.

2.5. Other Article Types

Editorials, scientific commentaries, and other scholarly contributions may be considered when appropriate to the journal's scope and editorial requirements.

The availability of each article type is subject to Medical JKK's editorial policies.

3. Language and Manuscript Formatting

Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise, and scientifically appropriate language. English is recommended to improve readability and international accessibility, where consistent with the journal's language policy.

General formatting requirements are as follows:

• Manuscripts must be prepared using Microsoft Word or a compatible document format.

• Use A4 page size.

• Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, unless otherwise specified for particular sections.

• Use 1.5 line spacing or follow the journal's official template.

• Apply consistent margins throughout the manuscript.

• Number all pages consecutively.

• Organize headings and subheadings systematically.

• Define abbreviations at first use, except for widely recognized abbreviations.

• Use the International System of Units (SI) where applicable.

• Number all tables and figures and provide appropriate titles or captions.

• Refer to every table and figure in the manuscript text.

• Use a consistent citation and reference style as prescribed by the journal.

If Medical JKK provides an official manuscript template, authors are encouraged to use it as the primary formatting reference.

4. Manuscript Structure

4.1. Title Page

The title page must include:

1. A concise, specific, and informative article title.

2. The full names of all authors without academic titles.

3. The institutional affiliations of each author.

4. Appropriate links between authors and affiliations when multiple institutions are involved.

5. The name, institutional affiliation, and email address of the corresponding author.

6. Research funding information, where applicable.

7. A conflict-of-interest statement, where applicable.

The title should accurately reflect the research and must not exaggerate the findings or implications.

If the journal uses anonymous peer review, author-identifying information must be provided in a separate document in accordance with the journal's submission procedures.

4.2. Abstract

Original research articles must include an abstract summarizing the study's background, objective, methods, main results, and conclusions.

A structured abstract may use the following headings:

• Background: The research context and rationale.

• Objective: The purpose of the study.

• Methods: The study design, participants or data sources, procedures, and analytical methods.

• Results: The principal findings.

• Conclusion: Conclusions supported by the study results.

The abstract must be concise and informative. Avoid unnecessary references, information not presented in the manuscript, or conclusions unsupported by the findings.

The maximum abstract length must follow Medical JKK's official template or technical requirements.

4.3. Keywords

Authors must provide keywords representing the main topics, variables, methods, or populations addressed in the study.

Keywords should use established scientific terminology. For biomedical articles, authors are encouraged to consider Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms where appropriate.

The number of keywords must follow the journal's requirements.

4.4. Introduction

The introduction should explain:

1. The background and context of the research problem.

2. Relevant scientific literature.

3. The knowledge gap addressed by the study.

4. The rationale and significance of the research.

5. The research objective and, where applicable, the study hypothesis.

The introduction must be logically organized and supported by relevant, verifiable references.

4.5. Methods

The methods section must describe the research procedures transparently so that readers can assess the study's validity and, where possible, reproduce its methods.

Relevant information includes:

1. Study design and research approach.

2. Study setting and period.

3. Population, sample, or data sources.

4. Inclusion and exclusion criteria, where applicable.

5. Sampling methods and sample-size calculations, where applicable.

6. Study variables and operational definitions.

7. Instruments, materials, and data-collection procedures.

8. Data-analysis methods and statistical software, where applicable.

9. Research ethics approval, where required.

10. Clinical trial registration, where applicable.

11. Substantive use of artificial intelligence tools in research implementation or analysis, where applicable.

Methods must be reported accurately. Authors must not omit essential information that could affect the interpretation or validity of the findings.

4.6. Results

The results section must present research findings systematically, objectively, and in accordance with the study objectives.

Results may be presented through text, tables, charts, figures, or other appropriate visualizations.

Authors must ensure that:

• The reported data accurately reflect the actual research findings.

• Primary and secondary outcomes are clearly distinguished where applicable.

• Numbers, percentages, and statistical measures are reported accurately.

• Relevant findings that do not support the study hypothesis are reported honestly.

• Tables and figures do not unnecessarily duplicate all information already presented in the text.

• Data are not manipulated or selectively omitted in a manner that could mislead readers.

4.7. Discussion

The discussion should interpret the findings in the context of relevant scientific literature.

It should address, where appropriate:

1. The principal findings and their significance.

2. Comparisons with previous studies.

3. Possible scientific explanations for the findings.

4. Implications for clinical practice, health policy, or further research.

5. The strengths and limitations of the study.

6. The potential applicability of the findings.

7. Recommendations for future research.

Authors must distinguish actual research findings from hypotheses or interpretations that require further investigation.

Conclusions and implications must not exceed what the available evidence supports.

4.8. Conclusion

The conclusion must address the research objectives based on the findings.

It should be concise and clear, without repeating the entire discussion. Authors should avoid introducing new claims, recommendations unsupported by evidence, or generalizations that exceed the limitations of the study design.

4.9. Additional Statements

Where applicable, manuscripts must include the following statements:

• Ethical approval statement.

• Informed consent statement.

• Data availability statement.

• Funding statement.

• Conflict-of-interest statement.

• Author contribution statement.

• Acknowledgments.

• Artificial intelligence use statement.

• Clinical trial registration information.

Not every statement applies to every article type. Authors should explain when a requirement is not applicable, in accordance with the journal's instructions.

5. Research Ethics

Medical JKK requires all research to be conducted ethically and in accordance with applicable regulations and recognized scientific standards.

5.1. Research Involving Human Participants

Research involving human participants, identifiable personal data, or human biological materials must comply with relevant ethical requirements.

Where required, authors must obtain approval from an appropriate research ethics committee or institutional review board before conducting the research.

The ethics statement must identify the approving committee, approval number where available, and other information necessary for verification.

If ethical approval was not required, authors must explain the basis for that determination when requested by the editor.

Authors must not claim that ethical approval was obtained when it was not.

5.2. Participant and Patient Consent

Informed consent must be obtained whenever required by the study design and applicable ethical standards.

For case reports, clinical photographs, or patient information that could identify an individual, authors must obtain appropriate consent for publication when required.

Authors must protect patient confidentiality. Identifying information must not be published without an appropriate legal and ethical basis and the necessary consent or authorization.

5.3. Research Involving Animals

Research involving live animals must comply with applicable animal welfare regulations and ethical standards.

Where required, approval from an appropriate animal research ethics committee must be obtained and reported in the manuscript.

Authors must describe relevant procedures used to protect animal welfare and minimize pain or distress.

5.4. Clinical Trials

Clinical trials must be registered in a recognized clinical trial registry before the first participant is enrolled when required by applicable standards.

Authors must provide the registry name, registration number, and registration date. Editors may request additional information about the clinical trial protocol and implementation.

6. Authorship and Author Contributions

Authorship must reflect genuine and accountable scholarly contributions.

Each author must meet the applicable authorship criteria for medical journals, including substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; participation in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content; approval of the final version; and willingness to be accountable for the integrity of the work.

All authors must:

1. Approve the final manuscript.

2. Agree to its submission to Medical JKK.

3. Accurately disclose their individual contributions.

4. Ensure that no qualifying author has been omitted.

5. Ensure that no individual has been listed as an author without a qualifying contribution.

Contributors who do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged with their permission.

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal and for ensuring that all authors have approved the submission and any changes made during the editorial process.

Changes to the author list or author order after submission must be justified and approved in writing by all affected authors. The editor may request supporting documentation.

7. Plagiarism and Originality

Manuscripts must represent original work and appropriately acknowledge all sources.

Authors must not engage in:

• Plagiarism of text, ideas, data, or images.

• Paraphrasing without adequate attribution.

• Duplicate or redundant publication without appropriate disclosure.

• Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals.

• Unauthorized use of third-party data or materials where permission is required.

• Data fabrication or falsification.

• Misleading manipulation of images or research findings.

Medical JKK may use similarity-detection software to assist in evaluating submitted manuscripts.

Similarity reports will be assessed contextually by the editor. No single similarity percentage is sufficient, on its own, to determine whether plagiarism has occurred.

If potential misconduct is identified, the journal may request clarification, conduct further investigations, or take action in accordance with its publication ethics policies.

8. Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose financial and non-financial interests that could potentially influence the research, interpretation of findings, or preparation of the manuscript.

Conflicts of interest may include employment, consultancy, honoraria, grants, share ownership, patents, personal relationships, or other professional interests.

A conflict-of-interest statement must be included in the manuscript in accordance with the journal's requirements.

If no relevant conflicts exist, authors may use the following statement:

"The authors declare that they have no relevant financial or non-financial conflicts of interest related to this research and publication."

Disclosure of a conflict of interest does not automatically result in manuscript rejection. The purpose is to maintain transparency and protect the integrity of the publication process.

9. Funding and Acknowledgments

Authors must disclose all funding sources that directly supported the research.

Funding information should include the name of the funding organization and the grant number, where available.

If a funder contributed to the study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, or publication decision, its role must be described.

If the research received no specific funding, authors may use the following statement:

"This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors."

Acknowledgments may recognize individuals or institutions that provided substantial assistance but did not meet the authorship criteria. Permission must be obtained from acknowledged individuals.

10. Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence

Medical JKK permits the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in accordance with the journal's policies and the principles of academic integrity.

Authors must comply with the following requirements:

1. AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the integrity of scholarly work.

2. Authors remain fully responsible for all manuscript content, including text, data, images, analyses, and references.

3. Substantive use of AI in manuscript preparation or research must be disclosed transparently.

4. Authors must verify the accuracy of information, validity of references, and reliability of AI-assisted outputs.

5. AI must not be used to fabricate research data, misleadingly manipulate images, or generate nonexistent references.

6. AI use must not violate patient confidentiality, data protection requirements, copyright, or other ethical obligations.

7. AI-generated references must be verified against reliable scholarly sources.

Where AI has been used substantively, authors are encouraged to identify the tool, describe its purpose, and explain which aspects of the work it assisted.

The following statement may be used as an example:

"During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [name of AI tool] to assist with [describe the purpose of use]. All outputs were reviewed and verified by the authors. The authors take full responsibility for the final content of the manuscript."

If no generative AI tools were used substantively, authors may state that no such tools were used in the preparation of the manuscript.

11. Data Availability

Authors are encouraged to include a data availability statement explaining how the data supporting the research findings can be accessed.

Data may be available through a public repository, upon reasonable request, or subject to restrictions arising from ethical, legal, privacy, or confidentiality requirements.

If data cannot be shared, authors must provide an appropriate explanation.

Data sharing must respect participant consent, patient confidentiality, data protection regulations, and intellectual property rights.

Editors may request access to data or supporting documentation when necessary to verify research integrity, provided that the request complies with applicable ethical and legal requirements.

12. Research Reporting Guidelines

Authors are encouraged to follow appropriate research reporting guidelines to ensure that manuscripts are transparent, complete, and suitable for scientific evaluation.

Examples include:

• CONSORT: Randomized controlled trials.

• STROBE: Observational studies.

• PRISMA: Systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

• STARD: Diagnostic accuracy studies.

• CARE: Clinical case reports.

• ARRIVE: Research involving animals.

• COREQ: Qualitative research involving interviews or focus groups.

• SQUIRE: Healthcare quality improvement studies.

The selected reporting guideline must correspond to the study design and objectives. Where applicable, completed checklists or flow diagrams should be submitted as supplementary files.

13. References and Citations

Authors must ensure that all sources cited in the manuscript are included in the reference list and that all references in the list are cited in the text, unless otherwise specified by the journal.

The following requirements apply:

1. Prefer relevant primary sources and reliable scholarly literature.

2. Ensure that each reference supports the statement for which it is cited.

3. Verify author names, titles, publication years, volumes, issues, page numbers, and DOIs where available.

4. Avoid irrelevant citations or citations intended solely to increase the citation counts of particular authors, editors, or journals.

5. Do not include fabricated or unverifiable references.

6. Disclose preprint status where relevant.

7. Avoid relying on retracted articles as scientific evidence unless the discussion specifically concerns the retraction.

The citation style and reference formatting must follow Medical JKK's requirements. Authors are encouraged to use reference management software to maintain consistency.

14. Tables, Figures, and Supplementary Materials

Tables and figures must support the interpretation of research findings and must not mislead readers.

General requirements include:

• Number all tables and figures consecutively.

• Provide clear and informative titles or captions.

• Refer to each table and figure in the manuscript text.

• Explain units of measurement, abbreviations, and symbols where necessary.

• Do not manipulate images to alter or conceal research findings.

• Provide appropriate attribution and obtain written permission for copyrighted material where required.

• Ensure that clinical photographs and images that could identify patients meet applicable consent and privacy requirements.

• Ensure that supplementary materials are relevant and consistent with the manuscript.

Editors may request original files or supporting data to assess the integrity of submitted figures.

15. Manuscript Submission Procedure

Manuscripts must be submitted through the Medical JKK Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform in accordance with the instructions provided on the journal's submission page.

Authors must ensure that:

1. The manuscript file follows the journal's formatting requirements.

2. The title, abstract, keywords, and author metadata entered into OJS are consistent with the manuscript.

3. The names, affiliations, and email addresses of all authors are accurate.

4. All authors have approved the final manuscript and its submission.

5. Ethical approval, funding, conflicts of interest, and author contributions are disclosed where applicable.

6. Ethics approval documents, consent documentation, reporting checklists, or other supplementary files are included when required.

7. The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal.

8. The authors have reviewed Medical JKK's publication ethics policies.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of all information submitted to the journal.

16. Editorial Process and Peer Review

Each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment to evaluate its relevance to the journal's scope, administrative completeness, basic scientific quality, and compliance with journal policies.

Manuscripts that satisfy the initial requirements may proceed to peer review.

Editorial decisions may include:

• Accept without revision.

• Accept with minor revisions.

• Accept with major revisions.

• Reject.

The editor retains responsibility for the final publication decision based on scientific evaluation, reviewer feedback, and compliance with journal policies.

Authors must respond systematically and professionally to reviewer comments. A response-to-reviewers document should be submitted when requested, explaining how each comment has been addressed.

Authors must not alter research data or findings merely to satisfy reviewer preferences without a scientifically justified basis.

17. Manuscript Revision

When revisions are requested, authors must resubmit the revised manuscript within the deadline specified by the editor.

The revised submission should include:

1. The revised manuscript.

2. A response-to-reviewers document.

3. An explanation of the changes made.

4. A scientific justification for any reviewer comments that could not be addressed.

Substantial changes to the data, methods, results, conclusions, or author list must be explained to the editor.

If a revision is not submitted within the specified deadline, the journal may close the submission or require a new submission in accordance with its editorial policies.

18. Corrections, Complaints, and Retractions

Authors must promptly notify the editor if they discover a significant error in a manuscript under consideration or in a published article.

If a potential ethical violation is identified, Medical JKK may conduct an investigation in accordance with its publication ethics policies.

Possible actions include requesting clarification, publishing a correction, issuing an expression of concern, or retracting an article when necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

Authors may submit complaints or appeals concerning editorial decisions through the journal's official communication channels, providing a clear explanation and relevant supporting evidence.

All complaints and appeals will be assessed fairly, objectively, and in accordance with the journal's established procedures.

19. Copyright and Licensing

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts do not infringe the copyright or intellectual property rights of third parties.

Copyright ownership, publication licensing, and article reuse are governed by Medical JKK's separately published copyright and licensing policies.

Authors must review and agree to the applicable terms before completing the publication process.

20. Pre-Submission Checklist

Before submitting a manuscript, authors should ensure that the following requirements have been met:

• The manuscript falls within the scope of Medical JKK.

• The work is original and is not under consideration by another journal.

• The manuscript structure corresponds to the article type.

• The title, abstract, and keywords have been prepared.

• All authors have approved the final manuscript and its submission.

• Author contributions have been accurately described.

• Ethical approval and informed consent have been obtained where required.

• Funding sources and conflicts of interest have been disclosed.

• AI use has been disclosed where applicable.

• Data, tables, figures, and references have been checked.

• Permission for copyrighted materials has been obtained where required.

• A data availability statement has been prepared where relevant.

• All required supplementary documents have been attached.

• The manuscript follows the journal's formatting and referencing requirements.

21. Commitment to Academic Integrity

Medical JKK is committed to maintaining the quality and integrity of scholarly publishing through transparent editorial procedures, objective peer review, and responsible research ethics practices.

Authors are responsible for the originality, accuracy, transparency, and ethical compliance of all content submitted for publication.

By submitting a manuscript to Medical JKK, authors confirm that the information provided is accurate and agree to comply with the journal's editorial policies, publication ethics requirements, and other applicable provisions.

These Author Guidelines are informed by the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and best practices in scientific reporting. The guidelines may be reviewed periodically to reflect developments in scientific standards, publication ethics, and applicable regulations.
