Archiving Policy

1. Digital Preservation Commitment

Medical JKK is committed to preserving its published scholarly content and maintaining long-term access to the scholarly record. The journal recognizes that reliable digital preservation is essential to publication integrity, research continuity, and the accessibility of scientific knowledge.

The journal implements appropriate electronic backup and digital preservation practices to reduce the risk of content loss caused by technical failures, accidental deletion, cybersecurity incidents, or changes in the journal's publishing arrangements.

2. Electronic Backup and Preservation

Medical JKK maintains electronic copies of its published articles, journal issues, and relevant publication metadata. The journal's publisher is responsible for ensuring that appropriate backup procedures are maintained and reviewed periodically.

Backup and preservation procedures are intended to:

  • Protect published articles and associated metadata against accidental loss or corruption.

  • Maintain the integrity and authenticity of the published scholarly record.

  • Support the restoration of journal content in the event of technical failure.

  • Preserve access to previously published articles when website maintenance or technical changes occur.

3. Digital Preservation Systems

Medical JKK uses the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform to manage and publish its online journal content.

Where available and formally activated, the journal may use recognized digital preservation services, such as:

PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
The PKP Preservation Network provides digital preservation services for eligible journals using OJS. It supports the long-term preservation of journal content through a distributed preservation network.

LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)
LOCKSS enables participating libraries to preserve journal content through distributed archival copies, helping maintain access and support recovery if content becomes unavailable from the original website.

CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)
CLOCKSS provides a preservation service designed to maintain access to scholarly content when the original publisher or website can no longer provide it.

The journal will identify the specific external preservation services it participates in on its website. Medical JKK will not claim participation in any preservation network unless the relevant service has been activated or confirmed.

4. Long-Term Accessibility

Medical JKK seeks to maintain continued access to its published articles, including articles from previous issues. Published content should remain accessible even when the journal's website undergoes maintenance, its technical infrastructure changes, or its publishing arrangements are modified.

The journal will take reasonable measures to preserve article files, publication metadata, and bibliographic information so that previously published research can continue to be identified and accessed.

Where an article's URL or website location changes, the journal will make reasonable efforts to maintain or restore access to the content and its associated bibliographic information.

5. Author Self-Archiving Policy

In accordance with the journal's open-access and licensing policies, authors may deposit and share their published articles in appropriate repositories and on personal or institutional websites, subject to the terms of the applicable Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.

Authors are encouraged to:

  • Deposit the published version of their articles in institutional or subject repositories.

  • Share their articles through personal academic websites and other appropriate scholarly platforms.

  • Retain the article's citation information and provide a link to the official Medical JKK publication whenever possible.

  • Preserve the article's attribution, copyright, and licensing information when sharing or redistributing the work.

Any redistribution or adaptation must comply with the applicable CC BY-SA 4.0 license terms, including attribution and the ShareAlike requirement for adaptations.

Official license information is available at: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/

6. Preservation in the Event of Journal Discontinuation

If Medical JKK ceases publication or can no longer maintain its current website, the publisher will make reasonable efforts to preserve the published scholarly record and maintain access to previously published content.

Where feasible, the journal will seek to retain or transfer article files, publication metadata, and archival records to an appropriate preservation service, institutional repository, or other suitable archival platform.

The journal's preservation arrangements are intended to minimize the risk of permanent loss of published research and support continued scholarly access.

7. Integrity of the Published Record

Medical JKK is committed to preserving the integrity of its published content. Articles will not be silently altered or removed from the scholarly record.

Where corrections, retractions, or other post-publication updates are necessary, the journal will follow its publication ethics policies and applicable guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Relevant notices will be linked to the affected articles whenever practicable to maintain transparency and an accurate scholarly record.

8. Policy Review

Medical JKK will periodically review its archiving and digital preservation arrangements to ensure that its policies remain transparent, practical, and consistent with developments in scholarly publishing and digital preservation.

The journal will update this policy when its preservation systems, technical arrangements, or applicable publishing practices change.
